Since 1908, Montclair State University has prepared thousands of students for a lifetime of personal and professional success. Today, MSU serves over 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students in a vibrant and diverse community.

A Community Ice Hub for 20+ Years

For more than two decades, Montclair State Ice Arena has been a cornerstone of the local community. Welcoming over half a million guests each year, the facility features two full NHL-sized rinks, a state-of-the-art performance training and rehab center, a fully equipped pro shop, and a café offering fresh food and snacks.

Home to Champions

Montclair State Arena proudly serves as the home rink for MSU Men’s & Women’s Ice Hockey Teams, and as the training ground for numerous Olympic and National-level figure skaters and medalists. The arena also supports a wide range of community-based programs, from youth clinics and leagues, adult hockey to figure skating and recreational events. Students aren’t just athletes here—they’re coaches, competitors, staff, and community members.

Youth Development and Training

The Montclair Blues Travel Youth Hockey Organization—serving more than 450 families—calls Montclair State Arena home, along with several local high school hockey teams including Clifton High School. The Skating Academy provides instruction to over 1,000 skaters annually, offering Learn to Skate, Learn to Play, and advanced clinics led by former NCAA athletes and professional-level coaches.

More Than Ice Time

Beyond skating, the arena offers open public skating, student-only activities, birthday parties, and corporate events. On-site amenities include Xhockey Products, a full-service pro shop, and Parabolic Training and Rehabilitation, an advanced off-ice training and injury-prevention center.

Community Connection

The MSA Café rounds out the experience with fresh sandwiches, specialty snacks, and community-friendly service—making every visit memorable for families, students, and guests.
