This introductory program will teach your child the basic skills of skating, stick-handling, passing and shooting through (10) 1-hour lessons. In addition, they will learn the importance of hardwork, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Discover the exciting world of hockey with our comprehensive Learn to Play Hockey program, designed for teens (11+) ready to crush their first hockey experience and adults looking for a new challenge.
This introductory program makes getting started easier and more convenient than ever. Through 10 engaging one-hour lessons, participants will master fundamental skating skills, stick-handling techniques, passing, and shooting while learning critical values like teamwork and sportsmanship.
Our program is tailored to meet the needs of aspiring young players and adult beginners alike. Participants will be divided into groups by age and skill level, ensuring a supportive and challenging environment. Each session focuses on building core hockey skills and introducing game situations that prepare players for recreational play. Full equipment is required, making this the perfect pathway for those wanting to explore the thrilling world of hockey.

Your program fee includes:
- Free full set of equipment, including skates, for first time Learn to Play participants – This includes participation in a USA Hockey sanctioned program.
- Family-friendly schedule with 10 weeks of 1-hour sessions
- Professional instruction alongside Rangers staff
- Special appearances by Rangers Alumni
- 40 plus premier community rink partner locations across the Tri-State area
If you do not sign-up for your session of Learn to Play two-weeks prior to the start date of your session then we can’t guarantee you will receive your equipment before the first practice.

Hockey Director
Liu has an extensive coaching history in the NJ area, including growing the Hockey in New Jersey program to one of the largest Hockey is for Everyone programs across the NHL. Before playing 4 years at West Virginia University, he was part of the 2003 Randolph State Championship team that was inducted into the New Jersey High School Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.
