Whether your goal is to master new skills, perform, compete, or simply enjoy being on the ice, Montclair State Ice Arena offers figure skating opportunities for skaters of all ages and experience levels. Building on the foundation of Learn to Skate, our figure skating programs provide pathways for continued development through Aspire, the Junior Redhawks Competition Team, specialty clinics, private lessons, freestyle sessions, and adult skating opportunities.
With experienced coaches and programs designed to support every stage of a skater’s journey, we help athletes build confidence, refine technique, and reach their individual goals both on and off the ice.
From Learn to Skate to Competition Ice
The Junior Redhawks Competition Team is designed to bridge skaters of all ages from Learn to Skate and Aspire into the exciting world of figure skating performance and competition.
Through a combination of group instruction, individual coaching, choreography, practice time, and performance opportunities, skaters gain the skills and confidence needed to take the next step in their development.
Most importantly, they become part of a supportive skating community where friendships, confidence, and personal growth are just as important as skating skills.
“The biggest transformation I see is confidence.”
— Deana Sroka, Skating Director

The Aspire program marks the transition from skater to figure skater and teaches athletes of all ages—including adults—the skills they need to make the most out of their figure skating journey. Whether you’re new to figure skating or returning later in life, the Aspire Program provides tips for practicing on your own, a repeatable off-ice warm up, and other valuable resources to help you become the best skater you can be.
From edge classes to spin pyramids, you’ll learn how to warm up like a champion, navigate freestyle sessions and practice on your own.
If you would like to be set up with a coach for private lessons, please contact Skating Director, Deana Sroka by email or phone: 973-746-7744.
