Under the Direction of Hockey Director, Thomas McGuire

Thomas McGuire joined Montclair State University Ice Arena as Hockey Director in July 2026, bringing a lifelong passion for hockey, extensive grassroots coaching experience, and a player-first approach to development. Throughout his coaching career, he has worked with players from Learn to Skate and Learn to Play through travel hockey, helping athletes build confidence, strong fundamentals, and a lifelong love of the game.

Before joining Montclair, Tom coached with Cambridge Youth Hockey, Ice Hockey in Harlem, City Ice Pavilion, the New York Islanders Learn to Play program, and North Park Hockey Association. A Long Island native, he played youth hockey with the Long Island Rebels and Suffolk Juniors before continuing his career at St. Anthony’s High School and Marist College. Tom is a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach and NASM Certified Personal Trainer who believes the best player development happens in an environment that balances fun, structure, and purposeful instruction.
