Figure Skating
For those skaters ready to take their skating to the next level, Montclair State Ice Arena offers skating classes through our ISI Learn to Skate program for skaters who want to take their skills to the next level. The Rising Skater program is offered to enhance and improve the skills of skaters with classes in stroking, spins and jumps. Classes are sometimes paired with off ice classes as well to improve flexibility, agility, and stamina.
Advanced Classes

Aspire Class
for Basic 5 – 8 skaters
The Aspire program marks the transition from skater to figure skater and teaches athletes of all ages—including adults—the skills they need to make the most out of their figure skating journey. Whether you’re new to figure skating or returning later in life, the Aspire Program provides tips for practicing on your own, a repeatable off-ice warm up, and other valuable resources to help you become the best skater you can be.
Our MSA ASPIRE Skating Academy is for skaters who have completed the Basic 1 – 4 curriculum. Aspire Class is a weekly class that takes place on Learn to Skate Ice, and is structured as a one hour long semi-private class. Skills covered include salchow, toe loop, half loop, half flip, half lutz, scratch spin, sit spin, and introductory footwork maneuvers, spins & stroking.

From edge classes to spin pyramids, you’ll learn how to warm up like a champion, navigate freestyle sessions and practice on your own.
The safe, supportive group training environment keeps costs down and motivation high as skaters acquire new skills, develop good practice habits and learn the fundamentals of off-ice training alongside their peers. Classes will be limited to 5 skaters per coach and will have use of the full ice surface.

Adult Edge Class
Take your skating to new heights with our specialized Adult Edge Class, designed for adult skaters looking to refine their edges, enhance balance, and achieve a smooth, powerful flow on the ice.
